Les Brown Is a Human Potential Expert with the Power to Motivate His Readers

Les Brown is a noted motivational speaker and author of popular self help books. He managed to fulfill his life dreams even though his early life was filled with adversity. He became an expert on the subject of reaching goals and teaches his method to those who wish to better their lives.

He spreads his message through his two popular books, radio programs, television broadcasts, and live lectures. His personal development advice has inspired millions around the world thanks to his gift of being able to motivate through the spoken and written word.

The Background Of Les Brown

Les Brown was born on February 17, 1945. Mamie Brown adopted him along with his twin brother when he was six weeks old. They lived in a poor section of Miami, Florida, and although they didn't have a lot of money while growing up, Mamie provided Brown with a lot of love.

He was labeled as a slow learner while still in grade school, although many of his problems were due to restlessness and inattentiveness. A teacher took interest in him, and along with his mother, helped turn Brown's academic achievements around during his high school years.

That great achievement helped Brown learn it was possible to meet your full potential, even if others didn't think you could. He refers back to that incident in his speeches and writing, as having an impact on the direction of his life.

Even though he had no more formal education after high school, Les Brown didn't let that stop him from achieving his dreams. He went on to become a radio DJ, broadcast manager, community activist, politician, best selling author, and motivational speaker.

Les Brown The Motivational Speaker

Les Brown is one of the more sought after motivational speakers and has earned several awards. Most notably, he was selected as a Top Five Speaker in 1992 by the Toastmasters International club. He was also awarded The Council of Peers Award of Excellence by the National Speakers Association. His "You Deserve" series of speeches became one of the top fund raisers for PBS pledges nationwide and the speeches won him a Chicago-area Emmy.

"It's Not Over Until You Win: How to Become the Person You Always Wanted to Be No Matter What the Obstacle" was published in 1998 and is available as a book and audio book. Les Brown uses this book to tell his life story and inspire others to achieve their own potential. He tells how he was an abandoned baby rescued by a single mother. Brown relates how he was labeled as a slow learner and sent to Special Ed classes in a Miami ghetto. He overcame his adversities and went on to become a talk show host and best selling motivational author. He married a celebrity, Gladys Knight, and had what seemed to be the perfect life.

However, he still had life problems to contend with such as the death of his mother, his divorce from Knight, and problems with his TV show. This led him to refine his personal development advice to include tips such as to avoid toxic people.

This second book by Les Brown is targeted to people dealing with hard times. He motivates readers to stick it out and see the tough times through rather than give in to despair and depression. The message offered in this book is to never give up.
