The 3 Main Criteria for Content on this Page

1) It has to do with one or more of these subjects:
---> self improvement, personal development, self help or spirituality

2) It's short and to the point, i.e it meets one or more of these criteria:
---> less than 300 words or less than 1700 characters (spaces included)
(That generally means: less than half an A4 page in your word processor)

3) It's valid and useful to the readers of this page - something which I decide. (Please refer to 'Legalities' below).

Let's Get Started!
To get us started, I'm going to make a few inputs (diverse kinds of short self improvement ideas) right from the start. That way you'll get not only some short self improvement ideas, but also some idea about what's expected.

If you by now you just want to jump directly to where you can share your self improvement ideas, go ahead.

Otherwise, I'll get us started with the first short self improvement ideas:

Consider All Your Feelings Your Friends
It's easy to consider feelings like contentment, optimism, happiness, joy and love your friends. What with them being so pleasant and all.

But what about boredom, doubt, anger, frustration, doubt, fear and all the other unpleasant feelings? In all likelihood you don't count them as your friends. But what if you did? Because they are, you know. Honestly, they are there to help you.

If you simply:

a) don't listen to what the unpleasant emotion has to say in and of itself

b) feel the emotion as intensely as you can

c) ask yourself the question 'What lies beneath this feeling/emotion?'

And keep doing those three things every time you uncover a new feeling/emotion - you'll soon be much wiser to the true reason why you're were experiencing the original emotion in the first place.

And as a bonus, all the unpleasant emotions will have passed. Why? Because they're your friends, and now they've told you what you needed to know.

Spiritual Jokes, Spiritual One Liners & Self Help Jokes
Here are a few self help jokes / spiritual jokes / spiritual one-liners that I've stumbled upon:

Meditation - It's better than sitting around and doing nothing.

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.

If at first you don't succeed ... blame someone else and seek counseling.

I affirm that all of me is beautiful and valuable ... even the ugly, stupid, and disgusting parts.

I am grateful that I am not as judgmental as all those negative, critical and self-righteous people around me.

How many roads must a man travel down before he admits he is lost?

Love What You Do - Even If You Don't
In my local supermarket there's a guy who works as a cashier. He's very different from all the other employees. For one thing, he's older. For another, he has very long hair, usually collected into a pony tail. But thirdly, and most importantly, he has fun!

The way I see it ... making assorted goods pass by a scanner that goes 'beep' and taking people's money just cannot be the world's most exciting and rewarding job. But you know what?

From all outward appearances it is - at least to this guy.

He personally connects with every single customer he encounters. He comments on the things that people buy. He makes little jokes. He asks how people are doing and seem to genuinely care. He's sensitive to people's moods. If someone is projecting 'leave me alone', he'll do just that.

Yes, this guy is really something. He may have a pretty shitty job, but he's having a good time doing it.

And you know what else? The queue leading to his cash register is always longer than the other queues. People WANT to be serviced by this guy. They want it so much, they'll stand in a longer queue for it.

Do feel that you have a pretty shitty job? Or, at least, not the greatest job in the world? Well, then there are three things for you to do:

a) Make the best of your current situation. Do whatever it takes to ensure that you actually ENJOY what you're currently doing.

b) Start making plans for a change in your situation. This will be MUCH easier if you aren't feeling down because of your present situation.

c) Start putting some work into realizing your plan. Big steps, small steps, or even baby steps. Any kind of steps will do fine, as long at you keep taking them.

Five Quotations About Forgiveness
Forgiving - which is pretty much the same as letting go - is such a wonderful and powerful kind of personal development and I just wanted to share with you a handful of good quotes on forgiveness:

Resentment is like a glass of poison that a man drinks; then he sits down and waits for his enemy to die.
~ Unknown ~

If you can't forgive and forget, pick one.
~ Robert Brault ~

Forgiveness is a funny thing.
It warms the heart and cools the sting.

~ William A. Ward ~

Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.
~ Oscar Wilde ~

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.
~ Emo Philips ~

Check for Fear of Death
Do you fear physical death? Most people do. You, too?

If you fear physical death, how much do you fear it? I'm not so much asking for your fear of physical death on this very day today, as I'm asking for some kind of average - say, over the last seven months.

On a scale from 0 to 10, where 10 is an all consuming fear, how much would you say that you fear death? Please just say out loud or make a mental note of the first number that pops into your head. Don't think the question to death. :-)

Be honest! Be very honest. For your own sake. You'll se why in a moment.

When you have noted the amount of fear you have on this particular subject, read on.

Okay. What I'm about to say is in no way the ultimate truth, but it may have some merit. Or a lot of merit:

Your fear of physical death has something to do with the degree to which you're living your soul purpose. You know, living the kind of life and doing the kind of work that you love and which is perfect for you.

The more you are living your life according to your unique nature (your soul purpose), the less fear of death you will have.

The more fear of death you have, the further away you are from living the kind of life that's perfect for you.

Plainly put: You don't feel that you've REALLY lived your life yet, and so you're scared of death.

In other words: Your fear of physical death tells you that you that you need to make some changes.

The direction of those changes is simple: Go for what you love; that which makes you happy!
